Description

Pan seared steak in a creamy cajun shrimp sauce! Surf n turf at it’s best!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye steaks (or your favorite cut, about 11.5 inches thick)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

For the Creamy Cajun Shrimp Sauce:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Steak

  1. Season the Steak: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Rub them with olive oil, then season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Sear the Steak: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add butter and olive oil. Once hot, place the steaks in the skillet. Sear for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust time for desired doneness).
  3. Rest the Steak: Transfer the steaks to a plate, cover loosely with foil, and let them rest while you prepare the sauce.

Pro Tip: For a perfect crust, avoid moving the steaks while they sear.

2. Make the Creamy Cajun Shrimp Sauce

  1. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same skillet (don’t wipe it out—those browned bits add flavor!), melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, and sauté for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet and sprinkle with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the shrimp turn pink. Remove the shrimp and set aside.
  3. Create the Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, then stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  4. Combine: Return the shrimp to the skillet and stir to coat them in the sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

3. Serve

  1. Slice the rested steaks against the grain.
  2. Plate the steaks and spoon the creamy Cajun shrimp sauce over the top.
  3. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
